ISU Dance Marathon Family Event held at The Blank Park Zoo 

DES MOINES, IOWA- Dance Marathon is hosting its summer family event on Saturday, June 27, 2009.  Dance Marathon Executive Members and Committee Members along with Miracle Children and their families will meet at the Blank Park Zoo, located at 7401 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, IA 50315.  The day will be spent enjoying the Zoo from 1:00pm-5:00pm.  ISU Dance Marathon will also cover the cost of admission into the zoo for all Miracle Children and their immediate family members.  Miracle Children and their families will also be treated to an afternoon snack. This is a great chance for members of Dance Marathon to get to know our Miracle Children and their families.

Dance Marathon is a nation-wide, student-run philanthropy that raises money for Children’s Miracle Network which helps children and their families cope with life-threatening illnesses and diseases.  Dance Marathon made its debut at Iowa State twelve years ago, and it is now the largest philanthropy effort at Iowa State.  Each year, Dance Marathon holds a fifteen hour “Kickin’ it for the Kids” fundraiser where students that have each raised at least $200 come and spend the day with the families that ISU’s Dance Marathon helps sponsor.  Last year, Dance Marathon participants and organizers raised more than $160,000 for University of Iowa Children’s Hospital through Children’s Miracle Network.  Next year’s event will be held on January 23, 2010.  Dance Marathon is funded in part by the Government of the Student Body.
